Reading & Sight Word Practice
It is going to be an exciting few weeks as we learn about long vowel sounds in reading. Students will be learning how to analyze patterns to help them distinguish short-vowel words, such as got , and long-vowel words , such as go. By this point, students decoding and encoding habits with short-vowel patterns should be well established ,giving them the self-confidence they need to tackle long-vowel patterns and the challenge of multiple vowel sounds. In additon, parents will begin filling out reading logs to document that their child is reading at home. Please read with your child everyday and praise their progress as they progress from short vowel sounds to long vowel sounds.
